Linguistic Travel Packages

Study Spanish and discover Guatemala!

In partnership with the INEPAS Spanish School (situated in Quetzaltenango), Mayaexplor offers you an original travel package that includes intensive Spanish lessons followed by a discovery tour of Guatemala.

In a Latin American country, rich in culture and tradition, famous for being one of the most popular destinations to learn the Spanish language throughout the world, Mayaexplor offers you the opportunity to combine the study of Spanish with a journey through the heart of the Mayan world.

Why study Spanish in Guatemala?

Guatemala is widely known to be one of the best and most economical countries to learn Spanish due to its high standard of Spanish schools and a well-composed and clear pronunciation spoken by the local people; a Spanish which can be easily understood by beginners of the language.
Today, the country is made up of almost one hundred Spanish schools.

Who is this type of traveling for?

So…you have two or three weeks and you would like to learn Spanish or improve upon your existing knowledge of this Latin language for professional or personal reasons.
At the same time, you are also looking for an unforgettable travel experience.
Whatever your age, your level of Spanish, if you are a couple, a family, a group of friends or an academic or professional organization interested in an educational linguistic trip and a discovery of our land, this travel package is for you.

The Linguistic Package
  • The city of Quetzaltenango:

The Spanish schools in Quetzaltenango are among the best known throughout the country. Situated in the Western Highlands, Quetzaltenango is an ideal environment for foreign students to gain a total linguistic immersion experience. English is spoken little here as Quetzaltenango has not developed into an overly touristy destination. The region of Quetzaltenango is not included in the conventional tour packages, even though it offers rare and exceptional natural and cultural treasures.
    Quetzaltenango Guatemala

  • The Spanish School: Instituto de Español y Participación en Ayuda Social (INEPAS)
We chose this school for the following reasons:

The teaching which is offered in this school has unquestioned qualities.

The philosophy of INEPAS is in accordance with that of Mayaexplor; the development of a sustainable tourism in Guatemala.

    Ecole d'Espagnol Guatemala
As well as its Spanish Language Department, INEPAS runs a serious and active Social Aid Department, dedicated to the under privileged population of the rural communities of Quetzaltenango. Due to its extensive and effective social work, INEPAS has gained official recognition from UNESCO and the Guatemalan government. Today, it is the only Spanish school in Guatemala to have received a Civil Association status due to what they have achieved in their social participation.

English is spoken by the administration of the school.

For more information: Visit the INEPAS website: : inepas.org
  • The Spanish Lessons

We offer you five hours per day of one teacher to one student Spanish lessons. The lessons are structured and organized in accordance with your pace and rhythm of learning and your preferences.
On the first day of your lessons your teacher will asses your level of Spanish in order to structure the lessons content accordingly, so that they will be best-fitted to your needs.
The afternoons are dedicated to tourist and socio-cultural activities, such as visits to the surroundings of Quetzaltenango and informative conferences or videos on the culture, history and politics of Guatemala. These activities are included in the course program of the school and participation is optional.

  • Accommodation

The most popular type of accommodation for Spanish students is to live with a local home-stay family. This is best suited to the students' requirements as it gives them the opportunity to be totally immersed in the language, practicing what they learnt in their lessons with their local home-stay family. This type of accommodation is offered by the school and includes a private room and three meals a day. Each family has been carefully chosen by INEPAS to meet appropriate standards for its students
If, for any reason, this type of accommodation does not suit your needs, furnished apartments are also offered (depending on their availability), and have an additional cost.
